The NewGeneris project participated in the "European Food Science Day" an event organized by CommNet (Communication Managers in EU-funded food projects) on 18 November 2009, in Brussels. The event brought together over 100 participants from a wide background. The aim of the meeting was the dissemination of results of EU funded projects in the field of food and nutrition science.

The European Food Science Day was an opportunity for scientists to present their latest results in the field of food quality, food safety and nutrition to policy makers, food industry, consumers and other stakeholders. Speakers included high level representatives from the European Commission and the European Parliament, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), as well as the Confederation of the Food and Drink Industries (CIAA) and the European Consumers’ Organisation (BEUC).

NewGeneris dissemination officer, M. Botsivali, participated in the meeting and presented project achievements.

CommNet is a network of communications managers in EU-funded research projects about food quality and safety, comprising more than 20 food research networks (including NewGeneris) that represent more than 3000 European researchers. Managers responsible for dissemination and/or communication in such projects exchange experiences to improve their communication skills, disseminate information material and guidelines, organise training sessions on dissemination activities and promotional events.
